Obituary for Venia Ferguson Ramsey Venia Ferguson Ramsey
Longtime Covington Area Resident Dies At Age 85

Mrs. Venia Ferguson Ramsey, age 85, formerly of Johnson Creek, Covington, Virginia, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.

She was the wife of the late James Ted Ramsey, who preceded her in death in 2008.

Mrs. Ramsey was born August 9, 1925 in Elks Park, TN, the daughter of the late James Nelson Ferguson and Laurie Lowe Ferguson.

A member of this community since 1958, she was a homemaker and enjoyed needlework.

Mrs. Ramsey was a member of Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she served her church as a member of the choir and a youth advisor.

Mrs. Ramsey is survived by two sons, Paul J. Ramsey and wife, Dreama of Covington and Walter Ferguson and wife, Wanda of Iron Gate; one daughter, Edna Ellen McConnell of Blue Ridge; four grandchildren, Scott Ramsey and wife, Penny, Tracy Hodges and husband, David, Stacey Gamble and Dale McConnell and wife, Rikki; two great grandchildren, Brandon Ramsey and Ryan Romanollo; one brother, Harold Ferguson of North Carolina; one sister, Ramona Benage of Tennessee; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, James Nelson Ferguson and Laurie Lowe Ferguson, and husband, James Ted Ramsey, Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Trina Ramsey and one son-in-law, Everett McConnell.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Paul Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday morning from 11:30 a.m. until service time at Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
