Andrew Ward West, 79, of Lexington, Virginia, died April 3, 2011 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Stanardsville, VA.

Born September 26, 1931 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Allen Ward West and Vergie Alma Cash.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Gay West.

Mr. West was a member of the Lauderdale ARP Church.

Surviving are his two daughters, Norma Jean West and husband, Jim of MD; Kimberley Ann West Curry and husband, W.E. III of Churchville; three sons, Michael Glenn West and Wayne Lee West, both of Staunton; and Kenneth Allen West of Charlottesville; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at McElwee Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Benjamin W. Dowling, III officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. West to Evergreen Nursing Home, 355 William Mills Drive, Stanardsville, VA 22973 or to Alzheimer's Association, 2728 Colonial Avenue, Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
