Obituary for Mary Ellen Goff Mayo Mary Ellen Goff Mayo
Big Island Native Worked With Mohawk For Over 30 Years

Mary Ellen Goff Mayo, 60, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away on April 8, 2011.

Mrs. Mayo was born on October 31, 1950 in Big Island, the daughter of the late James L. Goff and Ellen May Tolley Goff.

Mrs. Mayo was an employee of Mohawk Industries for over 30 years, she was a member of the Glasgow Moose Lodge, and she loved motorcycle riding with her husband, son, daughter, son-in-law, and all of her motorcycle friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, James Goff, and two sisters, Mary E. Byrd, and Dorothy Stamples; also, brothers-in-law, Jr. Mayo, Bernard "Bud" Mayo, and Clarence Mayo.

Mary is survived by her husband of 30 years, William "Bill" M. Mayo, Sr.; her children, Sheri D. Rierson, William "Billy" Mayo Jr., and Monica Mayo Simmons and husband, David, all of Roanoke; brothers, Dillard Goff, Gordon Goff, Randy Byrd and wife, Vonice; sisters, Shirley Goff, Patricia Hickman, Kathy Long, and Arietta Johnson; grandchildren, Drake, Brittany, Tiffany, Chris, Whitney, Megan, Ashlee, Kimber and Keri; six great-grandchildren; her several many special nieces and nephews; also her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Teresa "Petie" Webb, Wayne Mayo and wife, Estelle, Frances France, Wanda Reid, Donnie Mayo and wife, Kathy, Annie Moore and husband, Luke, Mike Mayo and wife, Teresa; along with all of her special friends from Todd's BBQ and Glasgow Moose Lodge, and her special kitty cat, Sissy.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Sheldon Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista.
