Obituary for James William Fridley James William Fridley
Retired Logger Dies At Age 65

James William Fridley, 65, of 1306 Summit Drive, Covington, Virginia, died Friday, April 8, 2011 at his son's residence.

He was born March 11, 1946 in Alleghany County, a son of the late John M. Fridley and Vergie Kemper Fridley.

Mr. Fridley was a retired logger, having worked in the Alleghany Highlands for a number of years.

He was member of the Potts Valley Hounds Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Surviving are his ex-wife and best friend, Wanda Wright Fridley of Covington; one son, Jamie Fridley and Cassandra Plymale of Covington; two daughters, Melissa Hinkle and her husband, Gary and Amy Fridley and Lucus Rogers, all of Covington; six grandchildren, Casey Hinkle, Megan Hinkle, Kallista Hoke, Halley Kimberlin, Benjamin Fridley and Jaden Rogers; two sisters, Janice Persinger and Linda Rose, both of Covington; John Fridley of Defuniak Springs, FL and Chris Fridley of Paint Bank; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Brown officiating.

The interment followed in Lone Star Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Gary Hoke, Pat Hoke, Phillip Hoke, Robert Smith, Jr. Persinger, Eddie Wright, Lucus Rogers and Robert Bailey.

The family received friends Sunday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home and will at other times at the home of Melissa and Gary Hinkle at 311 Jonestown Road, Covington, VA 24426.
