Obituary for Regina O_Conner Dill Regina O_Conner Dill
Longtime Beta Sigma Phi Member Was Former Dancer

Regina O_Conner Dill went to be with the angels on Wednesday, April 13, 2011.

She was a member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church and was a long time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

In her younger days, she played on what is believed to be the first co-ed softball team in western Virginia.

She was also a member of a group of dancers who performed at the Strand Theatre prior to movie productions.

She was a graduate of Covington High School, attended James Madison University and was a graduate of the Covington Business School. She was a lifelong sports fan who loved her Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Tarheels and especially the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed taking trips to Atlanta to watch the Braves play with her beloved husband, Jimmy. She enjoyed keeping statistics on N.B.A. Basketball - especially the Chicago Bulls during Michael Jordan's career. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.

She was born on April 25, 1928 to Amos O'Conner and Ruth Corr O'Conner.

She was married on April 7, 1955 to her husband, James (Jim) Dill, who passed away in September of 2010.

She is survived by her son, Greg of Roanoke and his wife, Julia Jackson Dill and two grandsons, Andrew (Drew) and Daniel - who were the "apple of her eye."

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald O'Connor of Covington and her brother-in-law, Nick Nichols, of Greenville, Alabama.

She has three sisters-in-law, Nancy O'Connor of Covington, Nancy Nichols of Greenville, Alabama and Charlotte Lawson of Yardley, Pa. She has a half-sister, Betty Lou Newlander of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the staff at the Woodlands Health & Rehabilitation Center for the quality of care given to both Regina and Jim Dill.

A graveside service was conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Virgil Woodie officiating.

The family received friends on Friday evening at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Activity Fund C/O The Woodlands, 1000 Fairview Avenue, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
