Obituary for Iris Ferrell Rogers Iris Ferrell Rogers
Former Teacher's Aide Was Practical Nurse

Iris Ferrell Rogers, 84, of 525 S. Alleghany Ave, Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at her residence.

She was born June 5, 1926 in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late George and Nannie Womack Ferrell.

Mrs. Rogers was a former teacher's aide at Jeter Watson Intermediate School and also was a Practical Nurse in the Alleghany Highlands.

She was a member of the Pine Street Baptist Church. She served as the church Clerk for a number of years and was member of the Loyal Daughters of the church and the Willing Workers.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman Elwood Rogers in 1998 and also by 12 sisters and one brother.

Surviving are her two sons, Gerald Rogers of Covington and Coleman Eugene Roger of Washington, DC; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William O. Hickman III officiating.

The interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Friends may pay their respects any time at Arritt Funeral Home and the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
