Homemaker Was Covington Native

Eula Mae Myers Brooks, age 86, of 3415 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

She was born September 16, 1924 in Covington, Virginia, to the late Lewis E. and Ida Mae Goin Myers.

She was a homemaker throughout her life, and was a member of Walton Memorial United Methodist Church and the Good Hope Rebekah Lodge # 8 IOOF.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Russell Brooks in 1998; a daughter, Barbara Howdershelt; a brother, Rembert Hoke; and two sisters, Vivian Clarke and Betty Bush.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Brooks Sprouse and husband, Larry of Clifton Forge; a sister, Emma Lou Mays of Clifton Forge; a brother, Glen Hoke and wife, Barbara of Clifton Forge; six grandchildren, Anita Tingler and husband, James, Lorene Morgan, Ramona Tucker and husband, Mitchell, Scott Howdershelt and wife, Robin, Timmy Howdershelt, and Rena Alexander and husband, Brian; five great grandchildren, Natasha, Nicholas, Stephanie, Melissa, and Ryland; and special friends, Pat and Powell Merryman, Susan Fridley, and Bud and Alice Robinson.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Roger Bush and Reverend Lester Kennedy officiating.

Her body will be cremated following the service on Thursday. The family received friends on Wednesday evening at Nicely Funeral Home and will at other times at the residence, 3415 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, VA.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Walton Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 190, Iron Gate, VA 24448 or to the Alleghany Humane Society, PO Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, handled the arrangements.
