Olivia Streater Reed, 78, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Kendal.

Born May 24, 1932 in Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Jerry Malcolm Streater and Ethel Olivia Yarbrough Streater.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Compton Reed, and one brother, David Malcolm Streater.

Olivia was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Glasgow.

Surviving are one son, Darrell Compton Reed and wife, Mary of Bluffton, SC; one daughter, Courtney Reed VanOsten and husband, David of Natural Bridge; one sister, Jerry Streater Godsey, of Madison, AL; three grandchildren, Gregory Compton Reed; Caroline Elizabeth VanOsten; Andrew David VanOsten.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1002 Blue Ridge Road, Glasgow, with The Very Reverend William F. Myers and the Rev. Becky Crites officiating.

Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, P.O. Box 948, Lexington, VA, 24450 or to St. John's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 607, Glasgow, VA, 24555. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
