Obituary for Marion Kendig Linkswiler Marion Kendig Linkswiler
First Assembly Of God Church Member Dies At Age 88

Marion Kendig Linkswiler, age 88, of 800 W. Ridgeway Street, Apt 401, Clifton Forge, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at her residence, surrounded by her daughters.

She will join her husband of sixty-five years, Charles W. "Chuck" Linkswiler, Sr. (2010) and her only son, Charles W. "C.W." Linkswiler, Jr. (1978).

Marion was born September 2, 1922 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Herman and Jenny Esther Gillette Kendig.

She spent her life on earth as a faithful and devoted wife, mother, and nanny.

She was the oldest member of the First Assembly of God Church in Clifton Forge and was always willing to help others who were less fortunate than herself.

In addition to her parents, husband, and son, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Dianne L. and Ric Hopkins of Natural Bridge, Esther L. Carlton of Clifton Forge, and Rebecca L. Slayton of Selma; three grandsons, Don and Sonia Warlitner, Eddie and Jodie Warlitner, and C. R. and Kim Anderson; three granddaughters, Emily Burley Seldomridge, Shelly Burley-Smith and Mickey Smith, and Kari Anderson; a special sister-in-law, Christine Loan; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three special family members, Scott Slayton, Stewart VanBuren, and Shane Vanness; and her special friends and caregivers, Mary Mann and Ellen Fischer.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Martin Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Friends and church members attending the service will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
