Was Ticket Agent, Dispatcher For Greyhound Bus Lines

Geneva Gay Reed Boguess, age 79, of 1710 Main Street, Clifton Woods Apartments, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Wednesday morning, May 11, 2011 at her residence.

She was born July 28, 1931 in Covington, Virginia, to the late James L. Reed, Sr. and Darlene McGuire Reed.

She was a ticket agent and dispatcher for Greyhound Bus Lines and volunteered for sixteen years with Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers.

She was a member of Iron Gate Community Church and was an avid Jeff Gordon and NASCAR fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Boguess in October of 2003 and a brother, Gary L. Reed.

Surviving are her children, Donna Howell and husband, Ralph of Clifton Forge, Cheryl Stapleton and companion, Bill Reynolds of Covington, April Winston of Covington, and Leon Boguess and wife, Cheryl of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Judy Brown and husband, Wesley of Covington, and Millie McMullen and husband, Donald of North Carolina; a brother, James L. Reed, Jr. and wife, Loretta of Covington; four sisters-in-law, Martha Simmons of Covington, Edna Tingler and husband, Bill of White Rock Gap, Covington, Libby McCoy of Iron Gate, and Gail Gibson and husband, Bob of Covington; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; a very special kitty "Toby"; bakerman, James Knighton; and her extended "family" at Clifton Woods Apartments.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar and Reverend Charles Waller officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery in Botetourt County.

Pallbearers were Brian Stapleton, Stephen Pultz, A. J. Jeter, Travis Boguess, Jeramy Goode, and Tom Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Presley and Chuck Elmore. The family received friends Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and any time at Apartment 219 or in the "Big Room" of Clifton Woods Apartments. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Sentara Home Care and Hospice, 214 W. Main Street, Covington, VA 24426.
