Was Retired Secretary

Violet Blanche Stanislawiszyn Beirne, age 85, of The Highland House Nursing Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, and formerly of Scott Hill, Clifton Forge, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at The Highland House.

Violet was born November 5, 1925 in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Michael and Elizabeth Kenjenski Stanislawiszyn.

During World War II, she worked for the Quartermaster Corps.

She was a retired secretary for the Town of Richlands, Manager Office.

She attended Central United Methodist Church, was a member of the local garden club, and a former member of the Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Burke Beirne in April of 1994; a daughter, Patricia Froese in 1997; six sisters, Mary Drost, Stella Stanislawiszyn, Blanche Stanislawiszyn, Helen Ohman, Catherine Ceglowski, and Sophie Klemik; and two brothers, Joseph Stanislawiszyn and Thomas Stanislawiszyn.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Donna Beirne of Clifton Forge and James Scott "Sparky" and Dana Beirne of Woodstock, Georgia; a sister, Dorothy Smith of Norfolk; eight grandchildren, Alexandru Beirne, Katherine Beirne, Matthew Beirne, Michael Beirne, Andrew Beirne, Ryan Beirne, Patrick Beirne, and Jackson Beirne; three step grandchildren, Justin Hardwick, Jordan Hardwick, and Myranda Hardwick; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated and a private interment will take place in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, P.O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457 or to the American Cancer Society, Alleghany Highlands Division, C/O Karen Buzzard, 807 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
