Obituary for Lloyd Wilson Nicely, Jr. Lloyd Wilson Nicely, Jr.
Advent Christian Minister Pastored Several Area Churches

Lloyd Wilson Nicely, Jr., age 81, of 4817 Nicelytown Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at his residence.

He was born June 30, 1929 in the Nicelytown area of Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late Lloyd Wilson Nicely, Sr. and Eva Remley Nicely.

He enlisted in the United States Army at age 17, and served for two years. He served for thirty-five years as an administrative assistant in the Virginia Army National Guard, and retired as Warrant Officer IV in 1984.

He was a lifelong member of Lone Star Advent Christian Church, and in his many years of service there held every office in the church including church elder.

He taught Sunday school for over thirty years, and was a member of the adult Sunday school class. He was a licensed Advent Christian minister who pastored at Hamilton Chapel Advent Christian Church in Bolar, VA for ten years and at Deerfield Advent Christian Church for five years, also speaking at Iron Gate Advent Christian Church occasionally.

He was a man who cared deeply about his country and his faith. He enjoyed reading very much and was a self-educated man.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Morgan Nicely of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Ann Louise Nicely of Fairmont, WV; a son, William Lloyd Nicely of Clifton Forge; a sister, Shirley Nicely Dianella of Newton, NJ; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Lone Star Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Doug Moore and Reverend Louis Dodd officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Burton Eddy Nicely, Randy Nicely, Cletus Nicely, Michael Nicely, C. J. Nicely, Earl Higgins, and Terry Loving.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge and at any time at the residence. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, the Lone Star Advent Christian Church Building Fund, 4704 Nicelytown Road, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, or to the Advent Christian Village, P.O. Box 4305, Dowling Park, FL 32064.
