Obituary for Rufus Martin Wilcher, Jr. Rufus Martin Wilcher, Jr.
Low Moor Native Worked With Adams Construction Company

Rufus Martin Wilcher, Jr., age 86, of 2512 Vassar Street, Low Moor, Virginia, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem.

He was born February 10, 1925 in Low Moor, Virginia, to the late Rufus M. Wilcher, Sr. and Mae Oyler Wilcher.

He served in the United States Army.

He was a laborer for Adams Construction and was of the Catholic faith.

He truly enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl Wilcher, Arthur Wilcher, Herman Wilcher, Allen Wilcher, and Raymond Wilcher; and three sisters, Mabel Haynes, Louise Thompson, and Maude Wilcher.

He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Sunrise Cemetery, Low Moor, with Reverend Michael Fisher officiating.

Interment will follow. Friends may call any time Friday at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, or at the home of Bucky and Gloria Wilcher, 2500 Vassar Street, Low Moor.
