Amherst Native Was Retired Security Guard

Glennie Loving Painter, 83, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Monday, June 20, 2011 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born February 24, 1928 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Jack Loving Painter and Myrtle Wheeler Coleman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael L. Painter and Ronald G. Painter; one brother, Dennie Painter, and one sister, Vivian Jenkins.

Glennie was a retired security guard with Securitas at Modine Manufacturing Company in Buena Vista.

Surviving are his wife, Louise V. Painter; one son, Larry Painter, and one sister, Joyce Ruff, all of Buena Vista; one grandchild; two great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Butch Grow officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, VA.
