William Henry Lewis Scott Wilmore, 87, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 20, 1924 in Bedford County, the son of the late Roy Scott Wilmore and Alice Terry Wilmore.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie, Clara, and Frances.

Mr. Wilmore retired from Reeves Brothers. He was an avid fisherman, and loved to read. He could often be seen walking through Buena Vista with a book in his hand.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty years, Lola Smith Wilmore; children, Kathy Southers and husband, Randy, of Buena Vista, Lewis Wilmore and wife, Jenny, of Lexington, James Wilmore and wife, Sheila, of Natural Bridge Station, Betty Hostetter and husband, Richard, of Glasgow, Mike Wilmore and Hope Hopkins of Lexington; one brother, Clarence Wilmore of Iron Gate; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a special friend "Poochie".

A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad or to Rockbridge SPCA.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, VA.
