Obituary for Edgar Lewis (Poppy) Madison Edgar Lewis (Poppy) Madison
Retired Truck Driver Was Shiloh United Methodist Church Member

Edgar Lewis (Poppy) Madison, age 73, of 3157 River Road, Millboro, Virginia, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

He was born July 22, 1937 in Millboro, Virginia, to the late Lloyd William Madison, Sr. and Pauline Marshall Madison.

He was a truck driver for Plecker Construction, a member of the pit crew for the former Shanks Racing team, and a past member of Millboro Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and loved mowing grass with his dog in the trailer behind him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd W. Madison, Jr., Marion Madison, and Marvin Madison; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Bethel.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche Clark Madison; two daughters, Patty Huffman and Vivian Matheney and fiance Delano (Jack, Jr.); three sons, Danny Madison and wife, Sharon, Billy Madison and girlfriend, Stephanie, and Brandon Matheney and girlfriend, Samantha, all of Millboro; four sisters, Gertrude Bethel of Millboro, Thelma Madison of Millboro, Shirley Madison of Staunton, and Barbara Madison of Staunton; a brother, George Madison and wife, Thelma of Millboro; nine grandchildren, Curtis Howard, Sr. and girlfriend, Lisa, Jay Howard and girlfriend, Natasha, Zach Madison and wife, Percillia, Jared Madison and fiance Robin, D. J. Jack, Damon "Little Man" Madison, Chloe Potter, Madison Burke, and Abby Matheney; two great grandchildren, C. J. Howard and Dylan Howard; a number of nieces and nephews; special friend, Melissa Williams; and loving companion Sporty.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Millboro Christian Church Cemetery in Millboro with Reverend David George officiating. Pallbearers will be Curtis Howard, Jay Howard, Zach Madison, Jared Madison, D. J. Jack, Jeff Martone, and Mike Shanks. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. at Millboro Christian Church. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Goshen Volunteer Rescue Squad or Craigsville-Augusta Springs Volunteer Rescue Squad.
