Obituary for Alba McLinskey Alba McLinskey
Green Hills Garden Club Member Was Reading Volunteer

Alba McLinskey, 86, daughter of the late Ottorino and Annetta Squarcia, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, July 8, 2001.

A warm, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and staunch friend, Alba was much involved in her community.

She was a member of the Green Hills Garden Club and a reading volunteer, through Shenandoah Valley Head Start, at Staunton McSwain Elementary and Pre-School. She volunteered weekly at the Augusta Free Clinic. She was a communicant of St. John's Catholic Church in Waynesboro and a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lexington. She volunteered many services in both congregations, from baking communion bread to serving meals and arranging service schedules.

Alba is survived by her children, Michael McLinskey, Seattle, WA; Jean Krapf and her husband, Robert of Newark, DE; son-in-law, Charles Carr, Somerset, KY; and Patrick McLinskey and his wife, Leslie, Encampment, WY; and her grandchildren and their spouses, Benjamin and Caitlin Krapf, Simon and Kelly Carr, and Emily and Kevin Carter, and her great grandson Dylan Carr.

She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marxie and Harold P. Hesler, and two sisters-in-law, Mae Coley and Evelyn McCormack, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Alba was predeceased by her husband, Thomas John McLinskey and by her daughter, Sara Carr.

Donations in Alba's name to the Augusta Free Clinic would be appreciated. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Father Joseph D'Aurora officiating. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends following interment at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
