Obituary for Susan Anna (Mama Sue) Payne Susan Anna (Mama Sue) Payne
Faithful Member Of Concerned Christian Baptist Church

Mrs. Susan Anna (Mama Sue) Payne, age 101, formerly of 450 E. Hugh Street, Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Woodlands Nursing Home, Clifton Forge.

Mrs. Payne was born March 22, 1910 in Covington, the daughter of the late James Arthur Payne and Cora Lee Payne.

She was a lifetime member of this community.

Mrs. Payne was a faithful member and mother of Concerned Christian Baptist Church.

She served her church as a Deaconess and was President of the Great Grandmother's Club. She was a loving caregiver of her entire family and enjoyed spending time with all of her family and friends.

Mrs. Payne is survived by one daughter, Linda Carter and husband, Roy of Covington; one grandson, Anthony R. Carter; one granddaughter, Lisa A. Carter; three great grandsons, Keenan Smith, Khalil Carter, and Kashawn Carter; and a number of nieces, nephews including special niece, Pauline Martin; special great nieces, Sharon Braxton and husband, Michael; special great- great niece, Khalilah Braxton.

Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Concerned Christian Baptist Church with the Rev. William O. Hickman officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Smith, Ralph Fitzpatrick, Gary Wayne Twitty, Norman Richardson, Carl Johnson, Travis Braxton, Reginald Carter and T.L. Dickerson. Flowerbearers will be the Ladies of Concerned Christian Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m.. until service time at the Concerned Christian Church.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Scholarship Fund of Concerned Christian Baptist Church, 329 E. Cherry Street, Covington, VA 24426.
