Covington Resident Dies At Age 77

Barrie Joneal Frazier Mundy, age 77, of 119 Magazine Ave., Covington, Virginia, died Friday, July 28, 2011 at her residence.

She was born May 5, 1934 in Covington, Virginia, a daughter of the late Garnett D. and Aleta Thelma Long Frazier.

Mrs. Mundy was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard M. Mundy; a sister, Lorean Meeks, and a brother, Garnett David Frazier.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Mundy, Sr. of Covington, a daughter, Cathy Gale Gladwell and her husband, Billy of Botetourt; three sons, Gary Lee Mundy, Jr. of Roanoke, David E. Mundy and his wife, Marie of Roanoke, Jeffrey Wayne Mundy and his wife, Sharon of Roanoke; a daughter-in-law, Susie Bland Mundy of Covington; two brothers, Garland Elwood Frazier and his wife, Pam of Clifton Forge, and Donald Kenith Frazier of Covington;a sister-in-law, Noani Frazier of Ft. Walton Beach, FL.; eleven grandchildren: David Franklin Cummings, Jr., Richard Michael Mundy, Jr., Chistopher David Mundy, Cherilyn Mundy Colbert, Jennifer Lynn Mundy, Tracy Cummings Shinault, Shaun Mundy, Courtney Lee Mundy, Kellie Renee Cummings Cash, Alex Brian Mundy, and Joshua Taylor Mundy; seventeen great grandchildren; a dear friend, Barbra Dickson; friends, Richard Scanlon and Tammy Hoke, friend and helper, Cheryl Persinger, and 13 nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Gilliland, officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge.
