Obituary for Ella Middleton Kennon Ella Middleton Kennon
CHS Graduate Worked With Montgomery Ward, Southern Industrial Loan Company

Mrs. Ella Middleton Kennon, age 91, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany.

She was the wife of the late Brown Wesley Kennon.

Mrs. Kennon was born April 2, 1920 in Clifton Forge, the daughter of the late Fred Farland Middleton and Grace Cook Middleton.

She was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1938, and had worked for the former Montgomery Ward Store and Southern Industrial Loan Company as a bookkeeper. Since the mid 1970s, Mrs. Kennon was the owner and operator of her own antique business, Lamplighter Antiques.

Mrs. Kennon is survived by a son, Fred W. Kennon and wife, Till of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Patricia Kennon Parker of Covington; six grandchildren, Kenny Bird, Ben Bird, Bo Bird and wife, Anita, Krista B. Chaudoin and husband, Clint, Tara Kennon, Patrick Kennon; three great grandchildren, Julia Bird, Tristin Bird, and Logan Chaudoin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Fred Farland Middleton and Grace Cook Middleton, and husband, Brown Wesley Kennon, Mrs. Kennon was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Holmes Middleton and one sister-in-law, Mary Middleton.

A graveside service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Alleghany Memorial Park with Ryan Middleton officiating.

The active pallbearers will be Lee Middleton, Mike Middleton, Steve Burgess, Berkley Persinger, Steve Southall, Clint Chaudoin, Patrick Kennon, and Kenny Bird.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandson.
