Obituary for Robert Clarence (Uncle Bob) Ayers Robert Clarence (Uncle Bob) Ayers
West Virginia Native Was Retired Truck Mechanic

Robert Clarence (Uncle Bob) Ayers, age 92, of 202 Bradberry Lane, Clifton Forge, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on October 22, 1918 in West Virginia.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was affectionately known as "The Candy Man", and was also the mechanic for the first bus in the Immanuel Baptist Church Bus Ministry.

He was a retired truck mechanic for Covington Motors and was a water well driller.

He is survived by dear friends, Bobby and Arnold Bradberry and their families, and the family of the late James Bradberry. He lovingly called Bobby's daughters, Teresa and Kathy, "his girls".

He is also survived by his Immanuel Baptist Church family and special friends and caregivers, Richard and Imogene Deeds.

A funeral service will be held at on Tuesday 2:00 p.m. in Immanuel Baptist Church, 2819 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Bill Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradberry Family Cemetery on Douthat State Park Road, Millboro. The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon, one hour prior to the service at the church. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in his memory to the Immanuel Baptist Church, 2819 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to The Gideon Memorial Bible Chairman P.O. Box 942 Lexington, VA 24450.
