North Carolina Native Was 'Committed Woman Of God'

Missionary Erana Mae Scales Adams, 67, of Archdale, NC, formerly of Covington, Virginia, went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 27, 2011 at the Westwood Nursing Home where she had been a resident for two years.

She was born August 19, 1943 in Winston Salem, NC, a daughter of the late Nathaniel C. and Kathryn Scales.

Erana was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. During her life Erana served as a missionary and choir director at the Good News Fellowship Church in Covington. She served on the Usher Board and Pastor's Aide Committee at the First Church of God in Christ in White Sulphur Springs, WV. She was a committed woman of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Perry Lovell Elijah.

Surviving are her husband, Ronald Adams of Covington; one son, Elder Nathan Horton and his wife, Nadine Horton of Covington; two daughters, Darcell Davis and her husband, George of Archdale, NC and Trina Allen and her husband, Elder Randall Sr. of Covington; grandchildren, Curtis Jordan, Jr. of Virginia Beach; Mareo Allen of Covington; Lamar Allen of Fairmont, WV; Randall Allen, Jr. of Roanoke; Terence Reynolds of Archdale, NC Nathan Horton, Jr. of Low Moor; Doug Smothers of Fairmont, WV great grandchildren, Jene'ah Jordan of Virginia Beach; Katura Cosby of Covington; a God Child, Darin Scruggs of Covington, and a number of nieces and nephews; one brother, Steve Scales and his wife, Shirley of Mitchellville, MD; one sister, Sandra Edwards of Richmond; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011 in the Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ with Elder Randall Allen, Sr officiating and Elder Nathan Horton, Sr. delivering the Eulogy.

The family will receive their friends Thursday evening from 7:00 -8:00 a.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Elder and Trina Allen , 316 E. Prospect Street, Covington, VA.

The interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
