Jesse Cleland Southall, 83, of Lesage, West Virginia, died Thursday night, August 11, 2011, at his home.

Mr. Southall was born July 18, 1928, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Virgil and Eliza Easter Southall.

He was a veteran of World War II with the United States Marine Corps.

He was a retired employee of the Newport News Shipbuilding Company in Newport News.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Leatherwood "Babe" Southall in 2005.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday August 14, 2011 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Ryder officiating assisted by the Rev. Billy Martin.

The entombment followed in Alleghany Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may pay their respects any time at Arritt Funeral Home. The family received friends Saturday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.
