Obituary for Marie Carter White Marie Carter White
Clifton Forge Baptist Church Member Was Deaconess, Lifetime Member Of the Order Of The Eastern Star

Marie Carter White, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the age of 93.

She was born in Omar, West Virginia on March 9, 1918 to the late Van and Nora Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. White, Sr.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clifton Forge, where she was a deaconess, and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her son, James E. White, Jr. and wife, Kay of Asheville, NC; sister-in-law, Margaret White of Manassus; four grandchildren, Shelley W. Williams and husband, Scott, Jay White and wife, Paula, Steve White, and Zeb Bailey; four great grandchildren, Madison Williams, Fiona Bailey, Liam Bailey, and Rose Bailey; one nephew, Charles L. White III; two great nieces, Mikayla White and Breanna White; the wonderful staff at The Woodlands Rehabilitation and Health Center, where Marie received such special and compassionate care; and her special friend, Mrs. Dorothy Alfred, who was always patient and supportive.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with the Reverend Roslyn Thomas and the Reverend Matthew T. Barnette, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The body will be placed in the church at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., at the church.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church, 918 Church St, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
