Obituary for Frances Chittum Smith Frances Chittum Smith
Rockbridge County Native Was Glasgow Resident

Frances Chittum Smith, 71, of Glasgow, Virginia, died on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at her home.

She was born on March 10, 1940, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Saylor Malcolm Chittum and Myrtle Garrett Chittum.

Surviving are her husband, William G. Smith, of Glasgow; two daughters, Sandra Graves and husband, Clay, of Bluffton, S.C., and Billie Jean Webb and husband, Michael, of Natural Bridge; one brother, Tommy Chittum and wife, Joann, of Roanoke, Va.; three sisters, Shirley Lynn and husband, Ronnie, and Doris Tomlin, both of Buena Vista, and Kathy Smith and husband, Roy, of Roanoke, Va.; and four grandchildren, Justin and Brittany Graves, of Bluffton, S.C., and Audrey and Jarod Webb, of Natural Bridge.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Russ Barb officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. There will be a visitation following the service at the home of William G. Smith, 807 Falling Spring Road, Glasgow, Va.
