Roy Gibson Beard, 83, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Sunday August 21, 2011.

Mr. Beard was born on March 20, 1928 in Botetourt County, a son of the late Roy Wilson Beard and Mary Leighton Beard.

Mr. Beard is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Cash and husband Gary, and a son, Barry D. Beard and wife, Pat, both of Buena Vista; a step son, Ted Gilbert and wife, Gloria of NC; two sisters, Patsy Burch of Buena Vista and Mary Manspile of Buchanan; a brother, Richard Beard of Buchanan; six grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Bain Officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Bolling Grose and Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista.
