Retired Engineer Worked With Northrup Grumman Shipbuilding Company

William Mason (Tony) Johnson, Jr., 65, of Gautier, Mississippi and formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Clifton Forge on February 26, 1946, a son of William Mason Johnson, Sr. and Dorothy East Johnson.

He was a retired engineer with Northrup Grumman Shipbuilding.

He attended Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church.

He was an avid fly fisherman.

He is survived by two daughters, Angela Bush of Selma, Virginia and her fiance, Tim Howdershelt and Beth Holcomb of Clifton Forge; a sister, Kathryn Ann Boone and husband, Dan of Eagle Rock; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth-Anne McLain and husband, Michael, Joshua Bush, Abigail Bush and Britney Holcomb; 2 great grandchildren, Isabelle McLain and Amelie McClain; a special nephew, Todd Crance; special friend, Ms. Chris Saucier.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebecca Bush.

A funeral service was conducted Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, Virginia. Interment followed in the Galatia Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Gala, Virginia. The family received friends on Sunday evening at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to: The American Red Cross, Jackson River Chapter, 701 Midland Trail, Covington, Va. 24426.
