Mrs. Virginia May (Bubbles) Mahaney Harding, age 89, of Covington, Virginia, died Monday, September 12, 2011, at her residence.

She was the wife of the late A.W. "Pete" Harding, who preceded her in death on February 6, 2003.

Mrs. Harding was born October 22, 1921 in Clifton Forge, the daughter of the late Eugene Albert and Alice Mable Mahaney.

Bubbles worked in the laundry of the C&O Railway and also in the cafeteria of Rivermont Elementary School. Bubbles will be best remembered for selling 50/50 tickets for the Labor Day Celebration in Covington for the Local 675. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Women's Friendship and Morning Circle. Mrs. Harding was a member of the Covington Chapter 911, Women of the Moose and Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Harding is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Rea "Libby" Brooks of Piney View, WV and her husband, David and their three children; Sarah Elizabeth Burks and husband, Mark and son, Benjamin; Matthew Harding Brooks and wife, Meghan and son, Aiden; Mary Beth Edwards and husband, Charlie and two sons, Caleb and Joel; Ruth Ellen Hulvey of Harrisonburg and her husband, Mike and their two daughters, Rachel and Allison; Mary Kay Smith and husband, Tom of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frances Mahaney of Clifton Forge and Joyce Sellers and husband, Wayne of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Robin Reynolds, Maggie Humphries and Pattye Ford, Libby Burger, Cassie Brackenridge and the staff of Mountain Regional Hospice.

In addition to her parents, Eugene Albert and Alice Mable Mahaney, and her husband, A.W. "Pete" Harding, Mrs. Harding was preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis, Bill, Bunny, Jake and Jack and three sisters, Ruby, Wanda and Joyce.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.. Saturday, September 17, 2011 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug E. Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
