Obituary for Lewis Godfrey Riley Lewis Godfrey Riley
Retired VMI Carpenter Was County Native

Lewis Godfrey Riley, 95, of Rockbridge Baths, Virginia, died Saturday September 17, 2011.

Born April 9, 1916 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Walter Scott Riley and Naddell Plogger Riley.

Mr. Riley was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church and retired from VMI, where he worked as a carpenter.

Surviving are his wife, Lula Catherine Newcomer Riley; one son, Harry L. Riley and wife, Judith of Rockbridge County; two daughters, Nancy Lockridge and husband, James F. of Battle Mountain, Nevada, and Sandra Wadsworth and husband, Valon of Charles County, Maryland.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday September 21, 2011 at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church with Rev. Nancy Whitely and Rev. Robert Gordon officiating.

Burial will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Rockbridge Baths Fire Department, 5024 Maury River Road, Rockbridge Baths, VA 24473 or Rockbridge Area Hospice, 3150 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday September 20, 2011at the Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington.
