Bennett Oliver Strowbridge, 78, of Glasgow, Virginia, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at his home.

Born October 1, 1932 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Sabastian Strowbridge and Margaret Anthony Strowbridge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Early Strowbridge.

Mr. Strowbridge was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Glasgow, VA.

Surviving are his daughters, Venessa Strowbridge Brown and husband, Walker of Roanoke; Mildretta L. Strowbridge; Linda Dianne Strowbridge and Michael Anderson, all of Glasgow; six brothers, Joseph, Allen, and Dennis, all of MD; Rupert and Eric, both of IN; Clinton of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Cassandra and Denise, both of MD; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Union Baptist Church in Glasgow, VA with the Rev. Horace Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
