Obituary for Nancy Jane Owen Peery Nancy Jane Owen Peery
Retired ARH Nurse WAs First Presbyterian Church Member

Mrs. Nancy Jane Owen Peery, age 78, of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, September 17, 2011, at her residence.

She is survived by Ralph Page Peery, her husband of 53 years.

Mrs. Peery was born November 2, 1932 in Halifax County, VA, the daughter of the late Charlie Henry and Josephine Farmer Owen.

She was a resident of this community since 1955 and was a nurse for Alleghany Regional Hospital before her retirement.

Mrs. Peery was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and a moderator for the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Mrs. Peery is also survived by two sons, Owen Lee Peery and wife, Yvonne of Richmond and Austin Page Peery of Covington; three grandchildren, Henry Owen Peery, Thomas Marten Peery, and Ina Marie Peery; three sisters, Mrs. Mary O. Whitsitt of Austin, TX, Mrs. Frances O. Stinespring of Hot Springs, Mrs. Gladys O. Daniel of Nelson, VA.

Mrs. Peery was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Alice O. Mello.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jamie B. Pharr officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Allen Dressler, Pat Loving, Tim OÕConner, Mike Warwick, John Waugh, and Joe Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Emmett Keller, Guy Johnson, and Harrison Fridley.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes be made to First Presbyterian Church, 185 N. Maple Avenue, Covington, VA 24426 or Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
