Frederick Wayne (Fritz) Renz Jr., 49, of Vinton, formerly of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2011 at home.

He was born on February 28, 1962 in Lexington, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick W. Renz, Sr., and twin brother, Jonathan Layne Renz.

Fritz is survived by his mother, Catherine (Kate) Renz; sister, Mitzi and husband, Rick Evans; son, Jonathan and daughter, Jordan Renz, and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway as Locomotive Engineer, with 20 years of service.

Fritz will be dearly missed by his family, friends, co-workers, caring neighbors, and all who were fortunate to have known him, as he never met a stranger.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Chapel in Buena Vista with Pastor Randy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Buena Vista Fire Department or the Buena Vista Rescue Squad.
