Frank Junior Sheets, 74 of Lexington, VA, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011.

Frank was born July 20, 1937, in Augusta County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Sheets and Mary Emma Griffin Sheets; a sister, Peggy McC1enney, and a brother, Claude Sheets.

He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Frank retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation, after 48 years of service, where he served as superintendent for the Kerr's Creek Headquarters.

Frank loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and gardening. He loved spending time with the "boys" and getting together with his VDOT friends.

He is survived by three sons: Phil Sheets and wife, Becky of Fairfield; Larry Sheets and wife, Mary of Buena Vista; and Andy Sheets of Fairfield and fiance, Lisa Davis; the family of Susan Sheets; three grandsons, and one granddaughter; four sisters: Cleta AnnWells, Shirley Edwards, Wanda Mayo and Nancy Mayo; four brothers: Bill, Donnie, Ray and David Sheets.

The service will be held at Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Rockbridge Baths on Friday, September 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Christina Tutterow. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockbridge Baths Fire Department, 5024 Maury River Road, Rockbridge Baths, VA 24473 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101.
