Obituary for Bobbie Lee Wood Bobbie Lee Wood
Korean War Veteran Retired From MeadWestvaco

Bobbie Lee Wood, 82, of 2027 S. Arden Ave., Covington, Virginia, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.

He was born July 22, 1929 in Covington, a son of the late Gratton B. and Ileita Heironimus Wood.

Mr. Wood served with the United States Navy during the Korean War.

He retired from MeadWestvaco in the Beater Room.

He was a Life Member of the Westvaco Rescue Squad, a Life Member of the Covington Lodge 610, Loyal Order of Moose, was a member of Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars and also was a Life Member of Castile Hunting Club.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Wood and Gratton Wood, Jr. and also by one sister, Phyllis Troxell.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Brown officiating.

The family received their friends Wednesday at the Arritt Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Loralee Fridley Wood of Covington; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and James Hobbs of Covington; one granddaughter, Shea Lyn Bogan and her husband, Donnie of Hot Springs; two great grandsons, Mikael Thrasher of Covington and Darien Thrasher of Hot Springs. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Va.
