Obituary for Hester Woodward Holland Hester Woodward Holland
Regional Library Retiree Was Church Deaon, Elder, Musician

Hester Woodward Holland, 90, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, November 5, 2011in Kendal.

Born May 26, 1921 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Norval and Nancy Kesler Woodward.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, T. Rufus Holland; one grandson, Dennis Holland Deavers; and a brother, Norval Woodward.

Mrs. Holland was retired from the Rockbridge Regional Library and was a member of Ben Salem Presbyterian Church, where she served as deacon and elder and played the piano and organ. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Daughters of the Confederacy, Colonial Danes, Rockbridge Genealogical Society, and helped organize the Home Extension Club.

Surviving are three sons, Norval Talmadge "Buck" Holland, Keith Woodward Holland, both of Lexington, and Randy Alan Holland of Fairfield; one daughter, Nancy Holland Deavers of Harrisonburg; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at Ben Salem Presbyterian Church with Pastor Larry Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ben Salem Church, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program. The family will receive friends from 6 Ð 8 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
