Ruby Sorrells Goodbar, 94, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

Born January 3, 1917, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Freeman Rupert Sorrells and Lula Gladys Fix Sorrells.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence H. Goodbar, and a son, Kenneth Goodbar; two brothers, Howard A. Sorrells, Sr. and Herbert D. Sorrells, and one sister, Ruth S. Lewis.

Ruby was a member of the Lauderdale ARP Church.

Surviving are her siblings, Lillian Knick of Glasgow; Shelvie May of Stephen City; Melvin Sorrells and Helen Silvea, both of Lexington.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Benjamin W. Dowling, III officiating. Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Harrison Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lauderdale ARP Church, 300 S. Main Street, Lexington, VA 24450.
