Betty Marie Lawhorne Coulter, 86, of Lexington, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA.

Born April 9, 1925 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse D. Lawhorne and Virginia Camper Lawhorne.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Coulter, Sr. and one brother, Lawrence Lawhorne.

Betty was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children, Betty Thompson and husband, Randy of Lovettsville, VA; Robert Coulter, Jr. and Susan of Staunton; William J. Coulter and Teresa of Lexington; one brother, Earl R. Lawhorne and wife, Jeanne of Savannah, GA; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles O'Roark officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
