Alleghany County Native Worked With Clifton Forge Food Pantry For 25 Years

Martha DeVenny Boucher, age 73, of 620 Prospect Walk, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at her residence.

She was born January 18, 1938 in Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late Leonard Wallace DeVenny and Nellie Hicks DeVenny.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and assisted with the Clifton Forge Food Pantry for twenty-five years.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Nellie DeVenny Circle and the Ladies Sodality, and was a Girl Scout cadet leader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace L. DeVenny, Jr.; a sister, Barbara D. Wilkinson; and a granddaughter, Heather Dawn Boucher.

She is survived by her husband, Paul W. Boucher of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Mary Holzinger and husband, Ronald of Sunrise, FL and Katherine Gillette and husband, Gary of Houston, TX; five sons, Paul H. Boucher and wife, Jane of Oakland, ME, Leo W. Boucher and wife, Judy of Covington, Joseph A. Boucher of Clifton Forge; Robert L. Boucher and wife, Mary of Lake Jackson, TX, and Bernard J. Boucher and wife, Tina of Cheboygan, MI; four sisters, Anna D. Jabour of Roanoke, Gladys D. Jeffries of Clifton Forge, Jean D. Buchanan of Clifton Forge, and Ina D. Cales of Covington; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clifton Forge with Father Tom Collins as celebrant. Interment followed in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Low Moor.

Pallbearers were Blair Nicely, Chad Nicely, David Buchanan, Bobby Buchanan, Michael Buchanan, and Bryan Buchanan. A Rosary was recited on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, followed by a time of visitation until 8:00 p.m.. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Area Food Pantry, 909 Church Street, PO Box 361, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge handled local arrangements.
