Obituary for Gregory Miles McCallister Gregory Miles McCallister
Worked With Covington Water Treatment Plant

Mr. Gregory Miles McCallister, age 60, of Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

Mr. McCallister was born August 12, 1951, the son of the late Harry Hunter McCallister and Eva Bennington McCallister.

He was a lifetime member of this community and a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1969. Since 1990, Greg was employed by the City of Covington, where he worked at the Water Treatment Plant. Prior to his employment with the city, he worked at Hercules and the Back Creek Dam.

Mr. McCallister was of the Methodist faith.

He was a member of the Virginia Army National Guard for six years.

Greg was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and was a staunch University of Virginia fan.

Mr. McCallister is survived by two brothers, Robert W. "Bob" McCallister and wife, Winnie of Covington and Larry W. McCallister and wife, Sharon of Covington; a number of nieces and nephews; his best friend, Patricia Johnson of Covington; and his beloved dog, Earl.

A funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Warren officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
