Dewey James Pugh, 83, of Natural Bridge Station, died December 31, 2011 at his home.

Born February 16, 1928 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late John H. Pugh and Lilly Jane Doss Pugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Juanita Pugh; a brother, Thurman Pugh; sisters, Rosie Smith, Louise Mayo, and Elizabeth Slough.

Mr. Pugh retired from Burlington after 40 years of service.

Surviving are his daughter, Donna P. Thomas, and a granddaughter, Gloria J. Pugh, both of Natural Bridge Station; several nieces and nephews, and a special caregiver, Rachel Lawhorne.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday January 3, 2012 in Glasgow Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Stine officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home; however, the family will receive friends at their home any time.
