Obituary for Marie Saunders Linton Marie Saunders Linton
Was Paint Bank Postmaster For Over 20 Years

Marie Saunders Linton, 88, of Paint Bank, Virginia, died Friday, December 30, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Linton was born November 18, 1923, at New Castle, a daughter of the late K. W. and Willie Paitsel Saunders.

She had retired as the Postmaster at the Paint Bank Post Office after over 20 years with the United States Postal Service.

She was a longtime member of the Humphreys Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of the Paint Bank Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Linton, in 2007, her daughter, Sharon Tingler, in 1995, and also by one sister and one brother.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-aw, Larry and Yvonne Linton of Salem and Stephen Linton of Paint Bank; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. David Brown officiating.

The interment was made in the Paint Bank Community Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Mrs. Linton's name may be made to the Paint Bank Fire Department, Paint Bank, VA 24131.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, handled the arrangements.
