Retired Clarendon Bank Vice President Dies At Age 86

Randolph Young Watson, age 86, of 313 Fork Farm Road, Iron Gate, Virginia, died Monday, January 9, 2012 peacefully at his home.

Born December 8, 1925 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, he was the son of the late Randolph Y. and Lillie Edna (Pursley) Watson.

He enlisted in the Navy and served from 1943 to 1945.

He then lived in Northern Virginia for over 50 years, retiring as a Vice President with Clarendon Bank and Trust Company.

Mr. Watson later moved back to the Alleghany Highlands.

While living in Northern Virginia, he was a member of the Pender Navy Lions Club and enjoyed his Friday night poker games with his friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his wife of 63 years, Pauline Linkinhoker Watson, and an infant brother.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicki Watson-Schoop and husband, Ronald of Iron Gate and Jennifer Flanagan of Oakton; a son, Randolph "Butch" Watson, III and wife, Pam of Tonasket, WA; seven grandchildren, Justin Schoop, Morgan Schoop and wife, Cindy, Cale Watson, Cori Watson, Matthew Watson, Caitlin Flanagan, Conor Flanagan; and one great grandchild, Zoey Schoop.

Viewing and service will be private. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Iron Gate Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 146, Iron Gate, VA 24448.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is in charge of arrangements.
