CSX Brakeman Was Epworth United Methodist Church Member

Eugene Lynwood (Gene) Dame, age 84, of 1414 Staunton Street, Selma, Virginia, died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at The Woodlands Nursing Home.

He was born September 22, 1927 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late Virgil and Nannie Elizabeth Turner Dame.

He was a brakeman for CSX Transportation and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Nancy Claryce Grove Dame in July of 2002, a brother, two sisters, and a granddaughter, Michaela.

He is survived by a son, Michael Eugene Dame and wife, Jessica of Selma; a sister, Nancy Mays of Charlottesville; a brother, Bruce V. Dame of Selma; five grandchildren, Shyanna Dame, Allie Dame, Mason Dame, Remy Dame, and Zack Dame; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jack Persinger, Dickie Warren, L. G. Gaines, and Maxie Hinkle.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge with Reverend Mike Warren officiating. Interment followed. The family received friends at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge on Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until time of service, and other times at the residence.
