STAUNTON -Dr. Malcolm Tenney, Jr., 88, of 24 Woodland Dr., died Friday (February 10, 2012) in his home.

Prior to his medical career, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a public school teacher and administrator for several years. As a medical doctor, he served as public health director for the counties of Augusta, Bath, Highland, Nelson, Rockbridge and Rockingham; and the cities of Buena Vista, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Staunton and Waynesboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Donald) Tenney; and by a sister, Marion Gulling.

Surviving are three children, Malcolm Sanderson Tenney, Linda Tenney, and Sarah Sayre; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 16, in Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bear Funeral Home in Churchville.
