Collierstown Native Dies At Age 98

Coreta Armstrong Agnor, 98, of Fairfield, Virginia, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 at Runk & Pratt Assisted Living facility on Leesville Road in Lynchburg, VA.

She was born November 1, 1913 in Collierstown, VA, a daughter of the late Howard Gratton Armstrong and Ida Morris Armstrong.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Moeton Agnor; her sisters, Ashley Lucas, Goldie Johnson, Glendon Scott and brothers, John David, Eugene, and William Armstrong.

Coreta was a lifetime member of the Collierstown Presbyterian Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Agnor served as Postmaster of the Fairfield, VA, Post Office for thirty-four years.

She enjoyed living in the Fairfield community and will be remembered for her love of flowers, especially her rose gardens.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brad Langdon officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, Coreta requested that memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity of your choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
