Obituary for Daniel Allen Penick Daniel Allen Penick
Lexington Resident Loved The Outdoors, Adopted Many Animals

Daniel Allen Penick III, of Lexington, VA, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012.

He was born in Lexington, March 1, 1980, a son of Karen Dean Penick and the late Daniel Allen Penick, Jr.

Since he was a young boy, Daniel loved the outdoors, wildlife, camping, and hunting. He had a quick wit, a quiet and generous sense of humor, and reached out to those less fortunate.

He loved animals and adopted many. He was a kind and helpful neighbor.

In addition to his mother, Daniel is survived by his uncle, Paul M. Penick II and wife, Dandridge T. Penick of Lexington; his uncle, Henry A. Dean, of Strasburg, Va.; his aunt, Diana Wellman Dean; his cousins, Paul M. Penick III, Nancy Penick Riffe, Jennifer Smith, Emily Quay, and numerous dear friends, including Heather Allen, Joe Beverly, Jeremy Brown, Brian Calhoun, Anthony Clark, Jessica Clark, Mike Hoke, Derek Martin, Amy McClure, Chrissy McClure, Rolland Moore, Chris Emma, Shawn Sprumb and Billy Staton.

He was preceded in death by an uncle, Herald A. Dean.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockbridge SPCA, Cats Unlimited, or Rockbridge Dog Rescue. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 2 p.m., at the New Monmouth Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Martin Stokes officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
