Obituary for Doris Frances Mann Doris Frances Mann
Covington Native Was Pentagon Secretary

Doris Frances Mann, age 68, of Roanoke, Virginia, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Friendship Retirement Home, Roanoke, VA.

Doris was born December 3, 1943 in Covington, the daughter of the late Nixon Garnett Mann and Maxine S. Mann.

She was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1961, where she was elected Miss Covington High School.

She was formerly employed by the United States government as a secretary in the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

Doris is survived by her two sisters, Norma M. Meadows and Carolyn "Kay" Milmoe and husband, Patrick J. Milmoe; three nieces, Kathy Weaver and husband, Gary, Mary Kaye Milmoe and husband, Ted Chryssicas and their children, Tyler, Ashton, Grant and Caroline Pugh and husband, Jim and their two children, Spenzi and Patrick; three nephews, Hugh Milmoe and his wife, Oriet and their two children, Eliza and Patrick, Herb Meadows, Steven Meadows and wife, Connie.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother, Nixon E. "Sonny" Mann; one brother-in-law, Herbert Meadows; and one nephew, Andrew Meadows.

A funeral service was conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment followed in Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jay Ervine, Timothy Ervine, Jeremy Skidmore and Hugh Milmoe.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until service time at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes be made to Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church, 205 Fletcher Chapel Road, Covington, VA 24426 or to the charity of your choice.
