Vera Lorraine Hostetter Carter, 72, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday March 10, 2012 at Heritage Hall.

Born November 5, 1939 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late James Ashby Hostetter and Ellen Mae Rowsey Hostetter.

She was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Robert G. Carter; her children, John E. Taylor, Rosemary Taylor, David A. Taylor, Michael L. Taylor and wife, Sonya; stepchildren, Kathy J. Ramsey and husband, Tim, Sonny G. Carter and wife, Lisa, Robin A. Arehart, Missy J. Smith; two brothers, Carl Hostetter, Earl Hostetter; fourteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday March 12, 2012 at Victory Baptist Church in Buena Vista with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow at House Mountain Chapel Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Victory Baptist Church.
