Obituary for Mary Marston (Polly) Curry Mary Marston (Polly) Curry
Maryland Native Was Author, Fine Arts Graduate

Mary Marston (Polly) Curry, 98, died in her sleep on Wednesday, March 14, in Lexington, Virginia.

The second of three children, Polly was born to Elizabeth and John Marston (MGenUSMC, ret) on June 26, 1913, in Annapolis, Maryland.

She married Manly Lamar Curry (BGenUSMC, ret) in 1933. As the daughter and wife of career Marine officers, she traveled widely, settling in Lexington in the 1970s. In 2009, she published "For All Our Days," a memoir for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but many others have enjoyed her life story as well.

Her interests ranged from tennis and ballroom dancing in her youth to painting and the Cursillo movement later in life. She earned a BA in Fine Arts from Herron Art School in 1969, on the same day that her first grandchild was born.

Polly was predeceased by her husband, Lamar; her sister, Betty Letcher, her brother, Jack Marston, and an infant son, Monroe.

Surviving are her children, John Curry, MD (Betsy), Mary "Posie" Neidigh (Denny), Rev. Bowie Curry (Barbara); five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and eight nephews and nieces, including her goddaughter, Katie Letcher Lyle, of Lexington.

Polly will be remembered by all for her engaging personality.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Kendal for their extraordinary care and service to our mother. A memorial service will be held at Kendal on Wednesday, March 21, at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity School for Ministry, 311 Eleventh Street, Ambridge, Pennsylvania, 15003.
