Obituary for Charles Edward Lewis, Jr. Charles Edward Lewis, Jr.
Korean War Veteran Worked with Alleghany Regional Hospital

Charles Edward Lewis, Jr., age 79, of 428 B Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at The Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Low Moor.

Born November 6, 1932 in Alleghany County, Virginia, Mr. Lewis was a son of the late Charles Edward Lewis, Sr. and Dorothy Branch Lewis.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was retired from the housekeeping department at Alleghany Regional Hospital.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Clifton Forge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Elizabeth Lewis; a son, Andre Beverly; and a sister, Carolyn Barnette.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Delores T. Lewis of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Sylvia Nevils of Clifton Forge and Shebra Haston and husband, Ricardo of Lexington; a son, Channing "Charlie" Lewis of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Vernon Lewis and wife, Joyce of Millboro, and Tyrone Lewis of Covington; five sisters-in-law and their husbands, Charleen & Robert Dobson of Christiansburg, Shirley and Robert Kelly, Sr. of Cincinnati, OH, Beatrice and Kent Smith, Sr. of Clifton Forge, Irene and Robert Murrell of Cincinnati, OH, and Shelia Thomas of Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren, Kelley Baine and husband, Joshua of New Castle, DE, Kayvon Nevils, Jr. of Clifton Forge, Kesha Eatmon and husband, Antwane of Lexington, Christina Haston of South Carolina, Keenan Nevils of Covington, Ricardo Haston, Jr. of Lexington, and Jerry Haston of Lexington; nine great grandchildren (and a tenth on the way); and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was conducted on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Matthew T. Barnette, Sr. and Reverend Roslyn Thomas officiating. Following the service, Mr. Lewis' body was cremated. The family received friends on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge and will at other times at the residence, 428 B Street, Clifton Forge.
